As a parent, guardian or grandparent, you already know how important it is to communicate with your child. The more you talk to your child about a wide range of issues - schoolwork, friends, sports, etc. - the easier it is to talk about specific topics such as tobacco prevention.
According to research, children who know that their parents don't want them to use tobacco are less likely to do so. By communicating regularly with your child about peer pressure, health consequences and factors that contribute to experimenting and using tobacco, and ways to avoid use, you can positively impact their decision to be tobacco free.
