Right Decisions, Right Now: Be Tobacco Free is an evidence-based educational program designed to prevent young people in grades 5 - 9 from using tobacco in any form, including cigarettes and smokeless tobacco.
The program materials and research have been reviewed by the National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP), a searchable online registry of mental health and substance abuse interventions developed by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Service Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The Right Decisions, Right Now: Be Tobacco Free received an overall rating of 2.4 on a 0.0 to 4.0 scale. The Afterschool Kit is a program designed to help youth develop the skills necessary to make the right decisions in their lives. It was developed for youth leaders to utilize in out-of-school settings such as afterschool programs, sports camps, youth groups, summer camps and community events. Developed for use with youth in grades 6 - 9, the Afterschool Kit contains six units that examine key aspects of the decision-making process:
